ABOUT ABOUT

The Valley Players will present You Can’t Take It With You, by George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart, October 2-4, 9-11, and 16-18 at the Valley Players Theater, Rt. 100, Waitsfield. Show time on Fridays and Saturdays will be 7:30 pm, and 2:00pm on Sundays.

This classic 1930's screwball comedy features a grandfather who hasn't paid taxes in years, a father whose basement inventions cause loud explosions at all times of the day, a mother who paints portraits and writes plays in the living room, a sister who has a candy making business but longs to become a prima ballerina, and the one "normal" sister who has a regular nine-to-five job and a boyfriend. The time comes when Alice realizes it's time for Tony to meet her family, and begs her eccentric relatives to "act normal" for the evening. When Tony shows up for dinner with his Wall Street investment banker father and high society mother on the wrong night, pretenses are stripped away with hilarious results.

Tickets are $12. The show is directed and produced by Ruth Ann Pattee, with assistance from Stage Manager Joanne Puente. The cast includes: Jack Bradt as Martin Vanderhof (Grandpa), Mikki Nucci as Penelope Sycamore, Michael Carr as Paul Sycamore, Liza Hill as Alice Sycamore, Sarah McDougal as Essie Carmichael, Vince Broderick as Ed Carmichael, Brian Watson as Tony Kirby, Dan Krymkowski as Anthony Kirby, Cynthia Seckler as Miriam Kirby, David Klein as Mr. De Pinna, Michael Halloran as Boris Kolenkhov, Brenda Reeder as Rheba, Mike Robison as Donald, Liam Hannon as Mr. Henderson and “The Man”, Susan Bauchner as Duchess Olga and a G-Man, Danielle Howes & Andra Kisler as Gay Wellington, and Joanne Puente as a G-Man.
